Gerda Stevenson: Tomorrow’s Feast

  • Blackwell's Bookshop 53-62 South Bridge Edinburgh, Scotland United Kingdom (map)

Blackwell’s are delighted to be welcoming award-winning writer, actor, theatre director and singer-songwriter Gerda Stevenson on Thursday 23rd November at 7pm as she discusses her latest poetry collection Tomorrow’s Feast, reflecting the challenges of today’s world.

At the forefront of the poet’s consciousness here is the legacy faced by the next generation. In many ways, as the title implies, the book is a tribute to youth. Its scope is wide and deep, profoundly personal as well as political, employing a range of poetic forms, including a virtuosic libretto in verse, a contemporary retelling of Coleridge’s epic poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner set during the refugee crisis. This book will be a perfect companion for any reader to dip in and out of as they face the turbulence of everyday life. Beyond that, it will also appeal to anyone who enjoys poetry and is looking for something powerful to capture their interest.

Gerda Stevenson is a multi-talented, award-winning writer, actor, singer, and director who has produced widely recognised works. This recognition consists of multiple awards, including a BAFTA for Best Film Actress Award. Stevenson has travelled the world with her previously published theatre productions and poetry, which have also received much acclaim. She is also the founder of Stellar Quines, Scotland’s leading women’s theatre company.
